What is the Mist Shower?
In the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, there is an increasing presence of highly contaminating products, particularly hazardous to operators. When management or processing of these products necessitates the form of powder control, protective measures must be implemented to safeguard both the operators and the external environment.
Mist shower or fogging shower create an environment filled with ultra-fine water droplets, resembling a “cloud”. This setup utilizes electrostatic attraction to anchor dust particles to the surface of protective clothing, minimizing the dispersion of these particles into the surrounding environment during undressing. In this manner, high concentrations of contaminant particles remain attached to the clothing and equipment, allowing for their removal in a verifiable and safe manner.
The use of mist shower helps prevent the formation of large droplets that could carry highly contaminating particles down along the clothing, thereby avoiding secondary contamination.
Qualia developed the mist shower in 2013 and began mass shipments in 2014, positioning us as one of the earliest manufacturers globally to research and develop this equipment.
Different Types of Mist Shower
By Application Environment:
- Explosion-Proof Mist Showers: Required for environments with explosive hazards, using components and materials designed to prevent ignition. Ideal for chemical processing areas where flammable substances are handled.
Non-Explosion-Proof Mist Showers: Suitable for environments without explosive risks, focusing on particle removal. Common in pharmaceutical and research settings.
By Protection Level:
Standard Dual-Door: Facilitates entry and exit while providing basic decontamination. Adequate for general applications where the main concern is to reduce surface contamination.
Single Airtight Door: Designed for environments needing controlled entry to prevent air contamination. Used when transitioning from a less clean to a cleaner space, maintaining cleanliness standards.
Dual Airtight Doors: Offers the highest level of contamination control, essential for maintaining strict environmental separation. Crucial for high-risk biocontainment or sterile manufacturing environments.
QUALIA vs. OTHERS
Feature | QUALIA | Others |
---|---|---|
Mist Particle Size | 3-5um | 10um |
Vaporization Time | 30-50s | 5-10 minutes; spray mode is typically used if the time is shorter, which can cause dripping |
Streaking Phenomenon | Wraparound integrity can be verified with testing, no streaking, and no large water droplets formed | Wraparound cannot be ensured, water droplets can carry highly contaminating particles, causing secondary contamination as they flow down the clothing |
Convenience | Equipped with continuous bagging transfer buckets for dirty clothes | Requires personnel to change inside and then remove the items |
Viewing Window | 12mm stainless steel disc-type window, safety level conforms to GB 15763.1 | Double-layer 5mm rectangular window |
Sealing Strip | Foam EPDM | Silicone rubber |
Internal Design | Top and bottom corners designed with 45-degree angles | Right-angle welding |
Product Features
- Fine Dry Fog Particle Size: Utilizes a centralized fog generating nozzle producing particles sized between 3-5um.
- Rapid Fogging: Vaporization process completes within 30-50 seconds.
- Superior Encapsulation: The dry fog adheres to protective clothing surfaces without forming drips, suitable for wraparound testing and certification.
- Emergency Spray Function: The interior is equipped with an emergency spray feature.
- Ventilation and Filtration: Comes with high-efficiency filters capable of handling 100% humidity. The system draws in fresh air and expels exhaust to the building’s ventilation ducts.
- Valve Configuration: Includes both electric and manual adjustment valves.
- Mist Generator Features: Equipped with high and low liquid level alarms and an emergency drainage system.
- Spray System Water Pressure: Maintains a supply water pressure of no less than 1KG.
- Water Supply Options: Compatible with client-supplied purified water or equipped with its own water tank, featuring high and low water level alarms, automatic water replenishment, and periodic water replacement to prevent bacteria or scale buildup.
- Cleaning Tools: Interior can be fitted with an online cleaning water gun and air gun, based on usage needs.
- Continuous Bagging Transfer Barrel: A feature allowing for the protective clothing to be placed directly into the transfer barrel after mist showering inside. This enables safe retrieval of protective gear by personnel post-misting, significantly reducing contamination risk.
- Differential Pressure Indicators: Both sides of the equipment can be fitted with differential pressure gauges, with provisions for both absolute and relative pressure interfaces.
